Scandium Abundance in F–G–K Stars in a Wide Metallicity Range

چکیده

A new Sc II model atom has been constructed using up-to-date atomic data. To test it, we have carried out nonlocal thermodynamic equilibrium (non-LTE) calculations for three stars with reliably determined atmospheric parameters: the Sun, HD 61421 (Procyon), and 84937. Allowance departures from LTE leads to a decrease in root-mean-square abundance error compared case agreement, within limits of this error, abundances deduced different lines. The solar non-LTE $$\log\varepsilon_{\textrm{Sun}}=3.12\pm 0.05$$ exceeds meteoritic recommended by Lodders (2021) 0.08 dex. However, agreement 0.02 dex obtained Procyon. Based on high-resolution spectra, scandium 56 wide metallicity range, $${-}2.62\leq\textrm{[Fe/H]}\leq 0.24$$ . dependence [Sc/Fe] [Fe/H] demonstrates similarity behavior $$\alpha$$ -process elements: is enhanced relative iron ([Sc/Fe] $$\sim$$ 0.2) $$\textrm{[Fe/H]}<{-}1$$ , decreases increasing higher metallicity. correlates titanium abundance. results are important solving problem origin scandium.

Element Segregation in Low-metallicity Stars and the Primordial Lithium Abundance

Observational constraints on the primordial lithium abundance are important for the evaluation of the baryonic density of the universe. Its precise determination however suffers from uncertainties due to the possible depletion of this element inside the stars. Here we present and discuss new results on the lithium abundances in Pop II stars obtained with most recent stellar models including the...

Metallicity and Alpha-element Abundance Measurement in Red Giant Stars from Medium Resolution Spectra

We present a technique that applies spectral synthesis to medium resolution spectroscopy (MRS, R ∼ 6000) in the red (6300 Å < λ < 9100 Å) to measure [Fe/H] and [α/Fe] of individual red giant stars over a wide metallicity range. We apply our technique to 264 red giant stars in seven Galactic globular clusters and demonstrate that it reproduces the metallicities and α enhancements derived from hi...

New beryllium observations in low-metallicity stars

We present observations of the Be II 313.0 nm resonance doublet in 14 halo and old disk stars with metallicities ranging from [Fe/H]=-0.4 to≈-3.0 obtained with the CASPEC spectrograph of the ESO 3.6m telescope at a FWHM≈ 8.6 kms−1 resolution. Abundances are derived bymeans of the synthetic spectra technique employing Kurucz (1993) atmospheric models, with enhanced α-elements and no overshooting...

Low Metallicity Stars in Our Galaxy

The advent of 8 m class telescopes has allowed the detailed spectroscopic study of sizeable numbers of extremely metal-poor Galactic stars which are the witnesses of the formation of the early Galaxy. Their chemical composition displays some distinctive trends which should provide a strong constraint on the physical nature of the first generation(s) of stars and on their nucleosynthetic output....
